Flavour, use & storage
Flavour profile
Minty and grassy with a slightly musty, herbaceous edge. It is in the mint family and you can taste it, though it is softer and rounder than peppermint. Honey and lemon fill it out nicely.
How to use
Steep a teaspoon in freshly boiled water for eight to ten minutes, covered to keep the volatile oils in, then strain. Most people drink it in the evening. Blends well with chamomile, lemon balm or passionflower.

No. Nepetalactone, the compound that excites cats, does not act the same way in people. In humans catnip is traditionally used as a mild, calming evening tea.
Can I give it to my cat?

Does it make you drowsy?
