Flavour, use & storage
Flavour profile
Mild, green and faintly sweet with a soft herbal character and very little bitterness. Much gentler than the fruit's sharp flavour would lead you to expect. Pleasant plain, and it takes honey or lime well.
How to use
Steep a teaspoon of cut leaf, or two to three whole leaves, in freshly boiled water for ten minutes, covered, then strain. Traditionally drunk in the evening in parts of the Caribbean and West Africa.
How to store
Airtight, cool, dry and out of light.
Before you take this
