Flavour, use & storage
Flavour profile
Earthy and mildly sweet with a nutty finish and only a light bitterness. Burdock is eaten as a vegetable in Japan, where it is called gobo, and the powder keeps that savoury-sweet character. Noticeably gentler than most root powders.
How to use
Stir a teaspoon into water, juice or a smoothie, or simmer it for ten to fifteen minutes as a decoction and strain. It also works stirred into soups and broths at the end of cooking. Traditionally paired with dandelion root.
How to store
Airtight, cool and dry, out of direct light. The powder draws in moisture, so keep the pouch sealed and use a dry spoon.
Before you take this
Burdock is in the daisy family, so avoid it if you are allergic to ragweed, chrysanthemums or marigolds. It may lower blood sugar and can act as a diuretic, so speak to your doctor before use if you take diabetes medication, diuretics or blood thinners. Avoid during pregnancy.

Questions about Burdock Root
Is burdock the same as gobo?
Yes. Gobo is the Japanese name, where burdock is eaten as a root vegetable rather than taken as a herb.
What does it taste like?
Earthy and mildly sweet with a nutty finish and only light bitterness. Gentler than most root powders.
Can I take it if I get hay fever?
Burdock is in the daisy family, so avoid it if you react to ragweed, chrysanthemums or marigolds. Speak to your doctor if you are unsure.
What sizes does it come in?
4 oz, 8 oz and 16 oz. The herb is identical in every size — only the quantity in the pouch changes.
How is it packed?
By hand, in small batches, at our facility in Edison, New Jersey. One ingredient and nothing else — no fillers, flow agents or anti‑caking additives. The full ingredient list is printed on the pouch.
How should I store it?
Airtight, cool and dry, out of direct light. The powder draws in moisture, so keep the pouch sealed and use a dry spoon.
