Strongly earthy and bitter, with the distinctive horse-like aroma that gives the herb its Sanskrit name. It is not pleasant on its own, which is why it is almost always taken in milk, honey or a blended drink rather than plain water.
How to use
Start at a quarter teaspoon and build up. Whisk into warm (not boiling) milk with honey, blend into a smoothie, or stir into yoghurt. Some people prefer it in the evening, others in the morning. Adaptogens are judged over weeks rather than days, so stay consistent for at least four to six weeks before deciding anything.
