Flavour profile
Grassy and resinous with a pronounced bitterness and a slightly balsamic, hay-like aroma. The infusion turns a deep red-brown as it stands.
How to use
Steep a teaspoon in freshly boiled water for ten minutes, covered, then strain. The herb is also traditionally infused in olive oil in sunlight over several weeks to produce the deep red oil used topically.

St. John's Wort has more documented drug interactions than almost any other herb. It can reduce the effectiveness of hormonal contraception, antidepressants, blood thinners, HIV medication, immunosuppressants, some heart medication and chemotherapy drugs, and can cause serious reactions when combined with antidepressants. It also increases sensitivity to sunlight. Do not take it without speaking to your doctor or pharmacist first, especially if you take any prescription medication.
